What Is the Georgia Unemployment Calculator?

The Georgia Unemployment Calculator is an online tool that allows you to input your wage information for the past four quarters. Using the same formula applied by GDOL, the calculator estimates:

  • Weekly Benefit Amount (WBA) – the amount you may receive per week.
  • Maximum Benefit Amount (MBA) – the total benefits available for your claim.
  • Benefit Duration – the number of weeks you may qualify for.

It doesn’t replace the official claim process but gives you a clear picture before you file.

How the Calculator Works

The calculator uses your base period wages to estimate benefits. Here’s how it breaks down:

  1. Enter your claim start date.
The calculator automatically adjusts the wage quarters it considers, based on your filing date.
  2. Input your wages for each quarter.
You’ll enter your earnings from the last four completed quarters. These are labeled for you (e.g., Jan–Mar 2024, Apr–Jun 2024).
  3. Eligibility check.
    To qualify, you must:
    • Have earned wages in at least two quarters.
    • Have a minimum of $1,134 in your highest quarter.
    • Have total wages equal to at least 1.5 times your highest quarter wages.
  4. Benefit calculation.
    • Your weekly benefit amount is based on your two highest quarters, divided by 42.
    • The calculator enforces Georgia’s rules:
      • Minimum WBA: $55
      • Maximum WBA: $365
  5. Result display.
    You’ll see:
    • Weekly Benefit Amount (WBA)
    • Total Maximum Benefits
    • Estimated Duration (usually between 14 and 20 weeks)

  • Faster decision-making – Understand how long benefits might last.
